Corporate

The Asterisk PABX represents a new generation of PABXs (or phone systems).  This new generation of PABX are often referred to as IP based PABXs.  The 'IP' refers to the fact that they use the same Internet Protocol (IP) that you use when surfing the internet or sending an email. The most obvious indication of this new generation is that using an IP based PABX allows you to make phone calls over the Internet as well as over the traditional Public Switched Telecommunications Network PSTN (i.e. Telstra, Optus etc).  Making a phone call over the Internet is referred to as Voice Over IP or more commonly by the acronym VoIP.

At one level, an Asterisk PABX is no different to your existing Phone System and it is designed to replace existing Phone Systems.  An Asterisk PABX can work with your old analog handsets, but we generally recommend  upgrading to the new generation SIP handsets.  When upgrading to an Asterisk PABX, you will find that it supports ALL of your existing features plus a host of new ones.

Asterisk has been developed under an Open Source model by Digium, to bring together the strengths of traditional proprietary systems in terms of support and accountability, while providing the dynamics and transparency of Open Source Development.

Noojee Telephony Systems offers Corporations strong scalability; a single high end PABX can handle up to 1000 extensions and multiple PABXs can be clustered for a high availability solutions.  An Asterisk PABX is highly configurable and offers three levels of configuration/programming.  Most configuration needs can be met via simple dial plans.  For more advanced requirements, Asterisk includes a number of programming interfaces (API's) to extend the Asterisk functionality.

Noojee Telephony Systems offers customised packages at prices normally associated with off the shelf products.  As a rough guide, Noojee Telephony Systems can offer complete customised solutions for what usually works out to about $500 per handset.  These systems can included advanced IVR functionality with connections to corporate databases.
